Visual Design for Elementary Students
As the visual design lead at Conceptua Math, I have focused on increasing the friendliness and approachability of the product as communicated through it's look and feel. The product I inherited was outdated, overly academic, and lacking in personality. I collaborated with a graphic designer to bring an updated and inviting style to the product. I created style guides, assets, and also served as the art director.
Design Principles
- decrease visual distraction by using a limited color palette
- design for scalability with simplified, flat graphics
- increase approachability with imagery that aligns with elementary vocabulary
- create representation by including different ages, genders, races
Key Features include
1) Distinct value shifts within each color for accessibility
2) Font was chosen to include characters that align with the way students learn how to write
